Local Free Support Services & Ministries
Partners in Care offers general bereavement support groups. Education and support are combined to assist those who have suffered when a loved one dies. Groups typically held once a week for six to eight weeks. One-on-one support is also available for those not wanting to participate in a group setting. Sharing Hearts Social Group - Ongoing informal bereavement group provides opportunities to share through social gatherings. Meets monthly. Registration required. Call 382-5882 in Bend.
Compassionate Friends serves parents and grandparents who are grieving the loss of a child. Meets 1st Tuesday monthly, 7:00 - 9:00pm, First Lutheran Church, Bend. A free newsletter is available. Call Sandy Crippen 388-1146.
The High Desert Education Service District (ESD) publishes "Counselors in Private Practice" annually which lists local counselors in private practice. This list includes phone numbers, areas of specialty, and hourly rates. Call the Family Resource Center 389-5468 to obtain a copy.
Hospice Center, Bend - La Pine provides support and education for adults and children who have suffered a loss through death. Adult services include support groups, counseling, and community referrals. Children's services offer free groups to schools in the Bend-La Pine School District and through My Friend's House. Moving Beyond Your Loss is a support group for those who want to address issues of loss brought on by major life changes, such as divorce, disability, challenging physical or medical conditions, and death of a loved one. Meets Fridays, Noon - 2:00pm, St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. Pre-registration is not required. Cost: none. Call Spiritual Care Services at 382-4321.
My Friend's House provides support forgrieving children ages 3 - 19 years who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or significant individuals in their lives. Cost: none. Registration required. Call Hospice of Bend-La Pine Bereavement Department at 383-3910.

Teens Services and Support Groups provide free support to youths (ages 13-19 years) who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or significant person.
