Eric James Wegner

Eric James Wegner, 65, of Redmond, Oregon, passed away on April 24, 2026. Eric was born on October 26, 1960, in Salem, Oregon. After graduating from Mountain View High School, he went on to study German at Oregon State University, where he earned two Fulbright scholarships. Here he met and married his first wife, Terri. A gifted linguist and lifelong learner, Eric earned two master’s degrees in German and went on to study Spanish, French, and English. He was also a dedicated martial artist, achieving the rank of black belt in taekwondo. Eric had a deep love for Germany—its language, food, traditions, and people—and he built a life around that passion. He began his teaching career at Concordia University, where he taught German and taekwondo. Seeking a path more aligned with his dreams, he accepted a position with the Department of Defense, teaching German to American Army servicemen and their families. Eric moved to Germany, where he lived, worked, and found and walked with Jesus. Terri and Eric had their son, Corban Hunter Wegner, on July 23, 2004. After the unfortunate passing of Terri, Eric reconnected with his high school best friend after 40 years apart. What began with phone calls and a visit soon became something much more. During a trip back to the United States, he proposed on August 1, 2015. He relocated to Texas where they married on December 12, 2015. Together, Eric and Pam built a life in Georgetown, Texas, where he taught German at East View High School and became members of Open Road Biker Church. They purchased a ranch and created an Airbnb, sharing their home and hospitality with others. In October of 2020, they relocated to Redmond, Oregon. He decided not to go back to the classroom and became a hazmat CDL driver for Ed Staub & Sons until he retired in October of 2025. Eric loved everyone and always had a smile on his face. Eric’s treasures were his motorcycles. If the weather was not freezing, he would ride his Harley Davidson bikes which he fondly named Lady and Diva. Eric is preceded in death by his brother, Jed, and his first wife, Terri. He is survived by his parents, Dr. Eugene and Sally Wegner of Redmond, Oregon, his loving wife, Pamela; his son, Corban of Germany; step-son Glenn (wife Jackie); his step-daughter Kandace (husband Cress); his stepson Dylan, his stepdaughter Raquel; and his cherished grandchild, Adlen Swan, all of Austin, Texas. Eric will be remembered for his intellect, his passion for Jesus, language and culture, his adventurous spirit, and the lasting impression he made on everyone he met. He lived a life defined by curiosity, dedication, and deep love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Eric’s celebration of life will be held at Real Life Christian Church (2880 NE 27th St, Bend, OR 97701) at 2 PM on Saturday, May 30th.
