Gary Allyn Parks

Gary was born on May 20, 1944 in Portland, Oregon. He graduated from Grant High School, and received his M.S. in Engineering from Oregon State University. Gary was a Brother in Chi Phi Fraternity. Gary was a registered Professional Engineer and worked for Bonneville Power Administration for 41 years, retiring as the Redmond Regional Manager in 2007. "The best part of my job is the people." After retiring, Gary was employed by Western Electricity Coordinating Council as a Compliance Consultant. He was respected and admired for his technical expertise throughout the engineering community, serving as an Officer or as a contributing member for organizations such as ASCE (of which he was awarded Fellow membership). Gary felt strongly about community, volunteering his time with, to name a few, the Portland Jaycees, Portland Industrial Rotary Club, Albertina Kerr Golf Tournament, and the Redmond Parks Committee. Gary was a professional and had a quiet, humble way about him. He always tried to find the good in people. He had a quick wit and an amazing sense of humor, leaving us thinking "how does he do that?!" He was a gentle man who loved his family and his home. He enjoyed people, his career, golfing, sailing, sketching, travel, biking, hiking, reading, and dancing (when Bette Lou could get him on the dance floor!). Gary will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 34 years, Bette Lou, and their daughter Kelsey (Ryan), and their son Logan; his son Eli; his sisters Judy (Russ) and Nancy (Mike); his sister-in-law Zoe; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Gary was predeceased by his son Cameron, his Mom Enid and Dad Don.
