Georgia Lee Hendricks

Georgia Lee Hendricks, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Born May 7, 1945. Died on August 27, 2024, at the age of 79. She was born in Caldwell, Idaho, and lived her whole life in the Pacific Northwest. Over fifty of those years were in Redmond, Oregon. She grew up in Nyssa, Oregon, and was preceded in death by two of her younger siblings Donna and Mark, as well as her parents Mildred and Grant Peterson. She will be laid to rest in Nyssa, Oregon in the same Hilltop Cemetery as her family. She is survived by her younger brother Myron G. Peterson. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Boise State in 1967 and started teaching right away. For most of her teaching career, she worked in Central Oregon for COCC teaching adult basic education, and COIC to help students earn credits to receive their high school diplomas. She was a teacher for over forty years. She was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints her whole life. The Hendricks family was one of the first to help with funds for the building on Rimrock. She brought all her girls to plant the trees around the building before the first Sunday service. If there was anything to do with music at church Georgia led it or was a part of it. Primary chorister, choir director, Ward Chorister, and even playing Tuptim in the production of The King and I. She could sing the alto part to any song in the hymnbook with ease. Along with music she loved to read and would take weekly trips to the Redmond Library. She also liked to garden and would make jam from raspberries in her garden each summer, and if you found random zucchini on your doorstep with a recipe for chocolate zucchini cake, it was from Georgia. She is survived by her husband Jerry A. Hendricks. They were high school sweethearts and married for 59 years. They have four daughters together; Kim LaFontaine, Michele Rigby, Paula Barnhart, and Traci Waterman. Their ten grandchildren have fond memories of their grandmother making them French toast for breakfast, fun family camping trips all over Oregon in the summer, and snowy Christmas’ together in Redmond. Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 450 Rimrock Drive in Redmond, Oregon on Thursday, September 5th, at 11:00 am Internment in Nyssa, Oregon at the Hilltop Cemetery on Saturday, September 7th, at 10:00 am Funeral Home Provider Redmond Memorial Chapel (541) 548-3219
