Richard "Dick" Burman

Dick Burman was born in Nebraska in 1939 and was received into his eternal home on October 2023. He was the 2nd child of Bob and Marge Burman and the brother of Marilyn (Burman) Becic. All preceded him in death. He attended grade school and his freshman year of high school in Nebraska. Then the family moved to Oregon where he finished at Grant High School in Portland. He graduated in 1957. After high school, Dick attended Portland State College (as it was known then) and earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He worked for Intel for several years and then went to Peco Manufacturing and retired from there. In 1961 he married Marilyn Miller, and they had four children – Linda, Bob, Teri, and Sandra. In 1985 Dick and Marilyn divorced. In 1987 he married Ruth (Howton) Muhle. Dick and Ruth were married for almost 36 years before he passed away. Dick and Ruth have 7 grandchildren – Kris, Nick, Blaine, Alexander, Aili, Nathaniel, and Owen. Dick enjoyed being a parent and a grandparent! Dick enjoyed most sports. He loved hunting with his son, Bob. He enjoyed fishing with his children and watching Professional Bull Riding with his wife, Ruth. He played sports as a child and as a mature adult. His children participated in sports and Dick was an attendee at as many of those events as possible. He also coached Little League and a Meadowland Farm team. He enjoyed any kind of dancing and was a very good dancer. Dick also enjoyed golf and eating hamburgers with Ketchup, always with Ketchup! Dick and Ruth moved to Central Oregon in 2010. Dick had been very active in The Kiwanis Club, both in Portland and Central Oregon. He loved working at the Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp for Kids, he was active in his church and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Dick was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was interesting, funny, and entertaining! He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to give special thanks to the caregivers at Juniper Springs Memory Care and Partners in Care for your love and attention to detail when it came to caring for Dick or “Dicky Doo” as some of you knew him. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be sent to the Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp or The Alzheimer’s Association. A Celebration of Life will be planned for sometime this coming Spring.
