Terry W. Holmes

On February 5, 2021 Terence "Terry" Wayne Holmes passed away after a short yet courageous battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme. He was surrounded and comforted by loved ones as he spent his last hours at Partners in Care of Bend. He was 54 years old. Terry was born on March 27, 1966 in Redmond, Oregon. He was born the second child to Linda Holmes (Ennis) and Dallas Holmes, preceded by sister Carmen Patrick, and was the first of 3 sons. He was a role model to his brothers, Brent and Wade Holmes. After graduating from Redmond High School in 1985, Terry moved on to join the US Navy in 1986. He was a proud Veteran serving on the USS Enterprise and USS Midway and quickly rose to the rank of E5 before completing his duties in 1990. Upon his departure from the service he returned to his hometown where he reunited with his high school sweetheart and married Ermila (Mata) in 1991. Following in Dallas' footsteps and alongside Brent, Terry gave 20 years of employment to Les Schwab Tires. He ultimately found his passion in giving back to the community and joined the team at NeighborImpact in 2017. As an avid outdoorsman, lover of classic cars, and mint military arms, Terry could be found fly fishing, admiring classic cars which included his 1955 Chevy, polishing his guns, or tinkering in his garage getting ready for his next excursion. Although Terry was reserved, you could expect a quick-witted joke or a prank with every encounter you had with him. Without fail you could look to Terry and find a smile on his face with a true appreciation for life. Terry was always up for exchanging stories with new acquaintances; finding a hero in every person's past. On January 25, 2021, Terry and Ermila celebrated 30 years of marriage. Together they worked to create a prosperous life and lived each day to its fullest. He and Ermila enjoyed trips to the Oregon Coast, being outside, and exploring the different lakes and rivers of Oregon. Terry also found great happiness in sharing his love of the outdoors with his children and grandchildren. Raising their twin daughters Stephenie and Rochelle and youngest daughter, Jessica, was one of Terry's greatest achievements. In a household made up of women Terry was overjoyed to find sons in his daughter's partners: Brandon, Victor, and Corey. Above them all, the title he cherished most was,"Gwampa," given to him by his Grandson Braeden and Granddaughter Emery. Terry was preceded in death by his Father-in-Law Jose Trinidad Mata, Niece Heather Brooke, and Nephew Corey Boone. Terry's memory and zest for life will be carried on by Ermila, Stephenie (Brandon), Rochelle (Victor), Jessica (Corey), Dallas, Linda, Carmen, Brent, Wade, Braeden, Emery, Mother-in-law Maria, 14 brother and sister in laws, 19 nieces and nephews, and 5 great nieces and nephews. An intimate ceremony will be held at the Redmond Cemetery where Terry will be laid to rest. A Celebration of Life will be held at Highland Baptist Church of Redmond on Saturday February 20, 2021 at 1:00 pm.
