Thomas Raymond Gorman

With sorrow and a heavy heart, the family of Thomas R. Gorman announces his passing on July 14, 2026, at the age of 90. He succumbed to cancer, which he had bravely battled from his home in Eagle Crest Resort where he and his wife of 60 years had retired many years earlier. He passed comfortably, surrounded by his loving family and caregivers. Tom was born April 2, 1936, in Webster Groves, Missouri, where he grew up and went to school. After that he served in the Army, attended University of Missouri and met and married his beloved Jane Gifford. They welcomed three daughters in short order while Tom launched a successful career in sales within the wood products industry. Due to promotions and career advancements with Weyerhaeuser, Boise Cascade, and Smurfit, the family moved to different cities every few years, making cherished lifelong friends along the way. Among their stops was the Cleveland, Ohio area, where their daughters attended high school. Their professional journey eventually brought them to Oregon, where they settled in Lake Oswego before ultimately retiring to the Eagle Crest community in Redmond. Tom and Jane deeply enjoyed time with their friends and family, often traveling with them or journeying across the country to visit loved ones. Early in their retirement, they spent several months trailering around the country, exploring new places and reconnecting with old friends. Following the loss of Jane in 2020, Tom made it through that difficult period with his deep faith, the support of his Eagle Crest community, and his ongoing volunteer efforts with St. Vincent de Paul in Redmond. He was fortunate to have his granddaughter, Lauren, living nearby for frequent visits, while the rest of his immediate family remained in constant contact from afar. Tom was incredibly close with his family, and his final words were a heartfelt declaration of how much he loved them all. Tom is survived by his three daughters, Sally, Cathy, and Jenny; his granddaughters, Emily and Lauren, and his three great-grandchildren, Arthur, Eloise, and Charlie. Although they are filled with sorrow to have lost him, they know their father/grandfather was joyfully awaiting a reunion with his dear wife and his Lord. A funeral mass will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Redmond, where Tom was a regular parishioner. The service is scheduled for August 28, 2026, at 11a.m. Tom will be laid to rest at Pilot Butte Cemetery in Bend, Oregon, in an adjoining plot to his beloved Jane. In lieu of flowers, Tom's family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in his honor to Partners in Care in Redmond. This non-profit organization specializes in providing compassionate end-of-life caregiving services, which brought immense comfort to both Tom and Jane in their final days. Redmond Memorial Chapel is honored to be assisting the Gorman family with these arrangements.
