Annette Marie (Wetter) Pierce November 3, 1935 – July 26, 2026 Annette Pierce, matriarch of the Oregon Pierce clan, traded her golf shoes for a pair on wings in the wee hours of Sunday, July 26th in Bend, Oregon, holding her sweetheart’s hand as she passed. Her friendly personality and deep faith will serve as a source of comfort to those left behind since she never met a stranger. Annette was born to Clarence and Marie Wetter in Lake City, Iowa on November 3, 1935; the second child of a large farming family. It was there that she learned the value of hard work and dedication to family. She attended Rinard Elementary, where she met her husband of 69 years in 3rd grade, and graduated from Rinard High School in 1954. She excelled at sports while in school, and her basketball team was another group that coalesced around her orientation to moving forward together. Annette married her childhood sweetheart, Richard Pierce, on September 14, 1957, in Rockwell City, Iowa. For nearly 80 years, the pair could be described as two peas in a pod and were rarely apart. After moving west and living in several different small towns while growing their family in Washington State and Oregon, they settled in Aloha, Oregon, where Annette enjoyed her garden, worked as a Direct Support Professional at the ARC and TVW centers, and welcomed her only beloved grandchild Danielle. In their retirement years, Annette and Dick stayed very active as snowbirds who divided their time between their winter home in Mesa, AZ and Aloha. They were always known for their hospitality and zest for life. Family board games were epic and always an opportunity for belly laughs, good-humored ribbing and an appreciation of each other. Annette and Dick also traveled extensively and were able to enjoy numerous trips and cruises. A favorite trip was a horseback packing trip with the whole family in the Northern Washington wilderness. Over the years, Annette worked with individuals with disabilities in facilities in Aloha and her passion was always supporting those with unique abilities and life challenges. She was instrumental in establishing the Aloha Maintenance Company; employing individuals with disabilities to perform landscape maintenance. Residents of Eagle Crest since 2014, Annette enjoyed golfing, bridge, walking and visiting with family and friends. She was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church community and spent her final days at the Juniper Springs Assisted Living Facility, making new friends and enjoying outings with the family; especially at the Five Below restaurant in Redmond, where they had Sunday morning brunch after Mass each week and became family to the staff. To say that Annette will be missed is an understatement to all of us who knew her. She is survived by her husband Richard and sister Marlene Reed; sons Darvin (Nora); Dana (Carol), Darren (Amy); Dustin (Mandee) and granddaughter Danielle (Kelby). She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Larry, Ron, Rich and Paul. A Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 1720 NW 19th St., Redmond, OR 97756) on Wednesday, August 5th at 10:30 AM. There will be a reception at the church after the funeral, then a graveside service at 1:00 PM.
