Wayne L. Hall

Wayne L. Hall, son of Edward Hall and Henrieta Carter, and beloved husband of Marjorie Hall passed in peace at the age of 90 on November 11, 2022. He was born in Walla Walla, Washington on April 9, 1932 and was a graduate of Walla Walla High School. After holding various jobs, Wayne landed at NW Marine Ironworks which specialized in ship repairs. There his abilities with steel-cutting and fabrication, as well as his extensive knowledge and experience with blueprints and drafting/design earned him the position of foreman. He was an avid reader and loved books about history, especially WWII. He was never idle and kept himself busy even after retirement. Wayne had many hobbies. He loved music and played drums in a jazz band. After completing a photography class, he was rarely seen without a camera or movie camera in his hands. His basement was full of old computers that he refurbished. He taught himself woodworking and made small pieces of furniture and toys that would rival anything found in Santa's workshop. Wayne loved antiques; for a time, he and Marjorie owned The Purple Shutters antique shop. He had a deep appreciation for things of the past but lived for the simple things of the present. He was a gifted landscaper and loved tending to the colorful flowers he and Marjorie enjoyed so much. He loved fixing things and took great pride in caring for his home including climbing ladders, cleaning gutters, and other various household tasks well into his later years. Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie, siblings Mary, Shirley, Clifford, Dallas, Don, Paul and Philip-as well as his parent, step-father John Sloan and grandsons Tyler John Troyer and Thomas Cyril Crossen. He is survived by his siblings: Joan, David and Jerry Hall, as well as step-brother Bob Sloan, along with 16 nieces and nephews. His family includes: Daughter Sue-Ellen (Christopher) Jones, Granddaughters Jenna Schreiber and Ashley Colvin, Grandson Christopher Jones, and Great Grandchildren Bradley Schreiber and Ellie, Harper and Adam Colvin: his Son, Michael Wayne Hall, Grandson Adam Hall and Great Granddaughters Hazel and Ruby Hall: Daughter Cindy Louise (Thomas) Mayovsky and Grandson Jordan Mayovsky: Stepson Gary Holden, Stepdaughter Carol (John) Crossen, Granddaughter Stephanie (Brian) McMurphy, Great Grandchildren Zachary Yung, Felix Yung and Serena McMurphy: Granddaughter Christie Yung (Janette Thomas), Great Granddaughters Kayla and Savannah Lankford. Granddaughter Gina Crossen and Great Grandson Quincy Crossen. Grandson Michael (Spring) Yung and Great Grandsons Logan Yung and Dylan Comstock: Stepson David Holden and Grandson Ryan (Heather) Holden, Great Granddaughter Carli Holden and Great Grandson Mason Holden: Granddaughter Jessica (Jeremy) Drinkwater, Great Grandsons Michael and Joshua Drinkwater and Great Granddaughter Becky Drinkwater: Step-daughter Sandy (Dave) Troyer, Grandson Joshua Troyer, Granddaughter Brittany (Cody) Paulson and Great Grandsons Brody and Bentley Paulson and Granddaughter McKenna Troyer. Wayne loved many things in his long life, but what he loved most was being Papa/Grandpa to his beloved grandchildren. They loved him so much and being with them filled his heart with joy. It was the role he was born to play.
